11/8/2015

( Writing this from Deming, NM on November 8. )

First we wish to say,
"Happy Birthday, Mom"
We love you and miss you so much!
You look so beautiful,
glad you had a great time with DeeDee.

This post is the beginning of our 2015 Winter Adventure in Deming.

After leaving Arizona we set up at the Temperate Zone RV Park
15 miles north of Deming.  We paid for three months rent and plan to stay an additional three months in order to establish New Mexico residency.  With our lease in hand we transferred our AAA insurance and then registered the truck here and applied for our New Mexico driver's licenses.  We spent the next two weeks doing all the fun stuff like changing addresses, health insurance, bank accounts, library cards, doctors and voter registrations. And learning where everything is in town.

Besides Deming, the other town nearby is Silver City, 35 miles to the north.  Both have good shopping and lots of things to do.

Between us and Silver City is the Chola Copper Mine that has been in continuous operation since 1909.   There is a viewing area on US-152 right off of US-180.

The land across from the campground and the ranch is BLM land and the cows can graze there, but they head for home on their own when the sun starts to go down.

Would you like to give a presentation of your travels to the Clarkston Library travel group?

Thank you for asking, but we are enjoying our ongoing adventures in the beautiful western United States and won't be visiting Michigan for awhile.
